JYOTI CHRYSTAL has 29 years of international teaching experience in yoga, meditation, and the healing arts. She studied with BKS Iyengar in India in the 1980s and continues to study with senior iyengar teachers and in the tradition of viniyoga. She also studied ashtanga with Alan Bates and others in her early career.

While living in Brazil, Jyoti studied various forms of shamanism and the healing methods of both North and South American shamans, and founded a yoga center during her stay there.

For 13 years, Jyoti studied Indian philosophy and was a disciple of Jain master Gurudev Shree Chitrabhanu. Jyoti was initiated into the Peruvian shamanic lineage of the Andes by Don Calderon and has received third-degree initiation into Amazonian shamanism by Don Austin Rivas Vasquez.

As a practicing shamanic counselor and healer, Jyoti uses tools from her unique Shamanic Empowerment Therapy to assist journeyers in their soul retrieval work. Together with her partner, Dr. Jason Martin, they co-facilitate shamanic ceremonies and specialty workshops and lead groups to Mexico and Peru.

Jyoti directs the yoga program and the Starseed Yoga Teacher Training Program, is the inspiration behind the Feminine Wisdom program, now in its 15th year, and mentors apprentices in her unique shamanic style. Jyoti, along with Barbara Coloe, is co-author of the book Exploring Shamanic Yoga, published in April of 2001.
